President’s Message April 2017

As March comes to a close spring is upon us…or is it??? Mother Nature sure has been playing some tricks on us. Well she can’t deter us, either way, from our tasks. As you read this we have just completed our Spring Pancake Breakfast. All of the Rotarian support for this is greatly appreciated. Once again, Mary Mortier has done a terrific job organizing and coordinating this event. Thank you Mary for all you do!! The many food cupboards we support are always in need and very grateful.
A couple of weeks ago Paul Doody kicked off our biggest fundraiser of the year. The 19th Annual Charity Fundraiser and Golf Tournament. Rotarians are divided into 4 teams and complete for the top honor of raising the most money for our many charitable causes. This annual undertaking is widely supported by many individuals and area businesses. They advertise in a special newspaper insert which publicizes our many charitable causes held throughout the year.
One of these causes is the scholarships given out each spring to graduating high school seniors. Once again, we will be awarding $70,000 in multiple awards honoring both leadership and community service. The scholarship committee under the co-leadership of Greg Dutch and Lee Woodward are ready to embark on the challenging but rewarding task of narrowing down another amazing field of applicants from area high schools. This will culminate in a wonderful awards luncheon honoring these winners.
Thank you to you all for jumping in and helping out during another busy spring at Belfast Rotary.
Happy Spring to you all!!!

Brian Beaulieu
President, 2016-2017
