President’s Message March 2017

March is here and Spring is hopefully right around the corner. We are also gearing up for the last couple of fundraisers for our Rotary year. We recently completed the candy sale which was another huge success. Many thanks to Rotarians Mary Mortier and Dave Crabiel. We also send our thanks to the many members and non-member who purchased the chocolates. I would also like to thank Dave and Sherrie Wight for coordinating our football pool fundraiser which raised money for Polio Plus and the Foundation. I think everyone really enjoyed this activity.

Looking forward, Mary is flipping into high gear for the annual Spring Pancake Breakfast. Please try to make yourselves available to volunteer. This is a full club participation event. Mary has it set up like a well-oiled machine. Proceeds from this fundraiser helps the many local food cupboards.

In addition, Paul Doody has begun preparations for another successful golf fundraiser. We need to chip, putt and drive ourselves to another great year. This has been our largest fundraiser for many years. Not only does it help support the $70,000 scholarship commitment this year but also provides support for many of our other causes. Paul will be rolling out the teams and goals. We have a lot of fun with this each year. Whose team will raise the most this year? Let the friendly challenges and trash talk begin.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention our newest member Benjamin Pearson. Benjamin’s grandfather, Pete Pearson was a long time member of our club. Benjamin, we are delighted to welcome you to our Rotary family and look forward to getting to know you better.

Let me close this month’s message with a big Thank You for your service and all you do for Belfast and around the world.

Brian Beaulieu
